Ken Nelson will be missed

Kenneth L. Nelson, age 73, of Greenwich, died Thursday, December 15, 2011 at the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center at Firelands, New London after a 10 month illness. He was born October 7, 1938 in New London, Ohio, son of the late Cloyd and Dorothy (Harner) Nelson. Ken was a self employed welder/fabricator. He was known worldwide in the drag racing business as the owner and driver of the "Cool Bus" wheelstander (www.coolbus.net) Ken was also a talented singer and bass player. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and fans. We, the entire Nelson family want to thank God and all who cared and prayed during this challenging year.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anita (Westfall) Nelson; daughters, Christy Simonds of Roanoke, Alabama and Amanda Osterland of New London; 3 granddaughters, Gabrielle, Isabelle and Bella Osterland; brothers, Gary Nelson of Lake Placid, Florida and Jim Nelson of Grant, Florida and sister, Sharon Ward of Norwalk. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London. Pastor Dan Moore will officiate the service. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials if desired may be given to the First Baptist Church of New London, 432 Park Ave., New London, Ohio 44851 or to the Benefit Fund in Ken's name at the Sutton Bank, 51 Park Ave., New London.
